“There comes a time in your life when the life you have been living is over and you have no clue who you are becoming.”
Marion Woodman
“If we can embrace our ageing with a conscious and positive attitude, our elder years will be rich beyond measure. From peri-menopause to the 12 months after our last bleed, we are giving birth to ourselves.” Suzanne Arnold
Wise Women Ceremonies
Women usually begin their journey into the wild and wise years of their life in their 40’s when they enter into the peri-menopausal years, unless they have had an early menopause due to medical intervention or hereditary factors.
Many women, as they stand on this threshold of entering their midlife years, feel no longer young but not yet old, with many conflicting emotions and thoughts.
Life has most definitely changed. You feel those changes physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Regardless, of how your journey through the menopause is, perhaps, you have arrived at this place, uncertain of who you are becoming.
Menopausal women don’t just have to get used to their changing bodies but, also, the way they are treated. The following are common themes that many women share:
- They feel invisible, ignored and unheard.
- They fear the process of ageing, which is no surprise when we are surrounded by a culture obsessed with looking youthful, and companies pushing anti-ageing products.
- They have reached the top of their game and feel they can go no further.
- They wish to retire but cannot afford to financially.
- They are still looking after family but thinking about things they long to do for themselves.
- Or a whole host of other scenarios!
Once the menopause was barely recognised, even amongst women. Thankfully, that is no longer the case, with menopause rights being written into law, valuable resources available online and off and HRT freely available if you need it.
It’s no wonder that so many women struggle to come to terms with this transformation into midlife and beyond and are unaware that the menopause is not an end but the beginning of, potentially, the most liberating, fulfilling and powerful time of our life.
Wise Women Ceremonies can ground you into the journey to who you are becoming, each step of the way.

I had, what I called then, a Croning ceremony about five years ago, when I was in my late 50’s. It was a life defining experience and I am grateful everyday for the women who held me on that day and continue to do so today.
At the time I hadn’t defined what the Crone phase of our lives really meant. It is only over the ensuing years, as I have lived it and worked with countless women who are in various stages of the menopause, that I have come to an understanding of these three phases.
My experiences and research led me to create these ceremonies, I hope they will help women to mark, honour and celebrate themselves as they traverse this extraordinary and transformational time of their lives.
The Wild Woman Ceremony is for you if you are in the throes of perimenopause or around your 50th birthday.
You may well be experiencing the high and lows of the rollercoaster ride – rage, grief, fear, sorrow.
Uncertain of who you are any more or what you want. You may feel like you just want to run away from everything!
You are not alone!!
Now is the time to gather your Sister’s around you. To celebrate all that you have been, all that you are and all that you are becoming. To recognise your strengths and embrace your vulnerability.
You have crossed the threshold from caterpillar into the chrysalis, where you are preparing to become a beautiful butterfly. You are giving birth to yourself!

The Wise Women Ceremony is for you if you are post menopausal, perhaps in your mid 50’s, coming up to your second Saturn return.
You have birthed yourself but like a baby you have had to learn to walk, talk and feel into the woman you have become since your menstrual cycle ceased and that takes time.
You will have shed many things, people, situations, mindsets and more and may be ready to step into your midlife journey, albeit, somewhat uncomfortable with the unknowing-ness of it!
You may be finding the ageing process and the changes that are happening to you a little challenging.
You will be reflecting and learning from all your lived experiences, joyful and difficult and everything in-between and harvesting the wisdom of your life.

Are you ready to claim your Wise Woman title?
Now is a good time to regroup and remind yourself of who you were and who you have become and celebrate yourself with a Wise Woman Ceremony.
The Elder Croning Ceremony is one that I am yet to perform or co-create.
This may be a ceremony that you gift to some-one who is older, maybe 70 and beyond.
Who you love and respect deeply for all that she is to you and those around her and hold her in great esteem.
Or, perhaps, you are Her and feel called to celebrate and honour yourself and claim the title of Elder and Crone.
If any of these ceremonies resonate with you, please get in touch. I’d love to co-create something special with you.
Bright Blessings, Suzanne x
